Benefits of a Forested Wetland Understory:

• Rapidly establishment provides soil stabilization
• Areas with established native understory are less likely to be invaded by invasive plants such as Canada Thistle and Garlic Mustard
• Provides an attractive community between tree rows rather than noxious weeds
• Moderate stature allows seedling to receive sunlight
• May be sown in strips between tree rows to permit herbicide management
  in the immediate vicinity of the trees
• Adds diversity to reforestation projects
